Here are some pictures from a performance we had outside in November.. It was 40 degrees F. I was cold at first but once you start dancing you hardly feel it..
I started taking belly dancing classes at the Sanderson Center (college gym) March of 2009. Since then I have had numerous performances and have made a lot of friends in the class.. I didn't go to the classes that much this semester because I started taking taido and it was at the same time..
Today I decided I was going to the Smoky Mountains November 13th. It will only be for the weekend because I have school on Monday. Instead of studying biochemistry I have been looking at cabins and I think I have the perfect one picked out. The picture above shows the living room of the cabin. It will be a nice get away.
Flower Obsession
I have always loved flowers and now that I am married and on my own I don't have time to tend a flower garden. I have had inside plants but no matter how much I baby them they always seem to die. It is a little frustrating to buy special food and soil just for the plant to kill over the next week. I have decided to buy just seasonal plants. So next week I am making a trip to Lowes for some beautiful festive mums. I like the orangy/red ones.
Fall is in the air
It started to feel like fall last week. There is something about fall that makes me want to bake so yesterday I went over to a friends house and we cooked soup and baked apple pie, and monster cookies. We both have tests next week and a horrible lab report due in protein methods class so the evening was spent contemplating the data and what it all meant. No rest for the weary. I will admit that my mind is not on school right now I just want to belly dance. I still need to come up with a dance. Not sure if I will get it done in time.
I am going to my first halloween party this year! I am very excited I think I am going to paint some pumpkins gold with designs and maybe with ribbon and rhinestones. That will be so much fun. Of course after this week when my report is turned in.
Dreaming of Houses
My husband Jon said we should buy a house and now I am obsessed with houses. There are a few houses for sale in our area I like two of them. I am pretty picky about what I want so it might take us awhile to find the perfect house. I like an impressive front like huge columns or a big front porch. I also like spiral staircases and big windows. It needs to have five bedrooms so when my family visits we have room for everyone.
This patio is gorgeous so I just had to post it.
Another semester is Here
It has been a while since I last wrote. I have been in summer school it was class 7 days a week.
Now that I am getting into my routine for this semester I am starting to turn my thoughts towards the belly dance show we are going to have in late November or early December. The only problem is I can't find THE PERFECT COSTUME. I would like one that has a flowy skirt but I have spent countless hours looking for the perfect costume and all I can find in my size are the fitted skirts. If you know of any sites that I might have missed in my quest for the perfect costume please let me know.
Belly Dance Show
The show was great. I did not mess up or even get nervous, it was a blast to perform. We had a crowd show up and they really enjoyed it.
This summer I am going to work on a solo for next semester I hope I have time because I am taking summer classes the whole summer.
My teacher said we will work with veils and zeils. So excited about ordering a veil and a costume set. I have a few costumes picked out that I would like (one is pink and the other is blue) maybe I will get them both.
Glitter henna type paste
I received the glitter paste the other day and it is awesome. It really adds to the henna but it washes off so it only will last for a day. You put it on and let it dry for about an hour.
One more week till the performance. I am even practicing in the library at school between classes. I hope I can remember the choreography.
Henna has arrived
I received the henna paste. Yesterday I decorated my navel and my left foot. I don't have the patience to let it stay on over night but I let it sit for about two hours. It was a light color of orange brown but this morning it had darkened. I will post a pic of it later. I still have not received the glitter henna paste my sister ordered it April 6th so it has been over a week.
We are practicing for the next three nights for the performance on April the 23rd.
My birthday
My birthday was April 3rd and my older sister has ordered me henna paste from Dancing Rahana. I will will let you know how I like it. She also ordered glitter paste from beachcombers.
What I hope to put on my blog
Hey everyone I am new to belly dancing just started classes last month but I am in LOVE. I wanted to create this blog to help you find costumes and accessories. I would also like to explain basic moves and choreography. I am performing for the first time the 23rd of this month.. I am a little nervous so wish me luck. I hope you find my blog a great resource for everything belly dance.
Ebay is a good site to find a varity of belly dancing items that are unique..
